When one of our clients—eight months sober—relapsed and fell into suicidal crisis after devastating health news, BACS Care Coordinator Tonisha immediately stepped in. She went to his home, found him in crisis, and stayed by his side for hours, ensuring his safety while advocating for urgent care.
When outside intervention didn’t come, Tonisha and Clinical Program Supervisor Joel gently convinced him to go to the Urgent Care Clinic. Still frightened, he told Tonisha, “If you leave, I’m going to leave.” Tonisha stayed without hesitation, providing comfort, history, and advocacy to help him get the care he deserved.
Her persistence showed him that he mattered. “You stayed this whole time,” he said, recognizing that her dedication gave him the strength to accept help.
Tonisha’s commitment is a reminder of what compassionate care means at BACS: never giving up, never walking away, and always showing up for people when they need it most.
