2024 Annual Report

February 17, 2025

To the #WhateverItTakes community:

We’re excited to unveil our Annual Report for 2024. This year, I am so proud of the team, the community, and the people we serve. It has been a year of upheaval, of challenge, and of opportunity to make our community stronger.

Not only did BACS serve a record number of people this year (19,422) but we kept our outcomes strong. Real impact on each person matters as much to us as the number of people helped.

2024 Annual Report by Nora Daly

Our Results

  • 19,422 people got help by coming to BACS to address their homelessness and/or behavioral health needs.
  • 82% of participants (or over 3,000 people) who exited a BACS housing program this year moved into permanent housing – across Alameda, Solano, and Contra Costa Counties!
  • 3,000+ people got crisis behavioral health care from BACS, instead of being hospitalized or jailed, and are now stable in the community.
  • 2,820 households stayed housed, on the verge of homelessness, thanks to our Keep People Housed programs.
  • 30,000 visits to BACS Wellness Centers built long-term wellness thanks to our individualized assistance with housing, employment, behavioral health, food, and healthcare.
  • 10 new programs started this year – including a new housing fast site, several new Full Service Partnerships, crisis services, case management, and more.
  • BACS has one of the lowest overheads at 9.9%, meaning more than 90 cents on the dollar went out the door in the community’s hands!
  • This year, BACS spent $25.82 million on clients’ direct needs, including food, clothing, medical expenses, rental assistance, security deposits, and move-in assistance.
  • BACS is the founder and lead agency of Keep People Housed; between KPH and our Landlord Support services we work with over 10,000 landlords!

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our incredible staff and supporters like you. Together, we are changing what’s possible for those facing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, and systemic inequities. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create hope and stability for thousands.

In Solidarity,

Jamie Almanza, MBA, CEO
