Supported Housing

Alameda County has a severe shortage of low income housing for adults with mental illness. Waiting lists are long, and services are often difficult to obtain.

Since the initiation of BACS' Supported Independent Living program in 1973, we have been a leader in providing housing and case management services to help people with mental illness stabilize, learn independent living skills, and gradually seek permanent housing within the community.

Locations

BACS currently has six affordable housing sites. Each house or apartment provides a private bedroom and shared living quarters for its residents. At each location, residents share responsibilities for cleaning, paying bills, and general activities needed to run their houseold. Each resident is assigned a case manager to help them begin the process of attaining independent living skills in a supportive environment.
